DOI to invest $420 million in rural water construction projects

By Joyce Hanson (April 1, 2022, 9:32 p.m. EDT) — The U.S. Department of the Interior announced that its Bureau of Reclamation will invest $420 million in six rural water construction projects in fiscal year 2022 in under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, saying the money will help bring clean water to Native American tribes.

Millions of dollars of investments in rural water supply systems range from works to connect pipelines, build water treatment plants and reservoirs, improve water systems pumping and related efforts to provide safe drinking water to rural and tribal communities, the DOI said Thursday.

The six states will benefit from the funds targeting five ongoing rural water projects…
