THQ Nordic has confirmed a release date for Biomutant on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Those who already own a copy of the action-RPG on PS4 and Xbox One will be able to upgrade when this enhanced version launches on September 6, 2022.

With the game running on new hardware, expect a host of technical improvements. Some of the highlights of Biomutant on PS5 and Xbox Series X | S include support for native 4K resolution, HDR and 60 FPS, with super-fast loading times to boot.

As with many titles on shiny new systems from Sony and Microsoft, you can enable visual and performance enhancements by selecting one of several playback modes. On PS5 and Xbox Series X, these include:

• Quality: 30 fps at 4k resolution
• Unleashed quality: 40+ fps, 50-60 fps average, up to 4k resolution
• Performance: 60 fps locked at 1440 pixels

Meanwhile, on Xbox Series S:

• Quality: 30 fps at 1440 pixels
• Unleashed quality: 40+ fps, 50-60 fps average, up to 1440 pixels
• Performance: 60 fps locked at 1080 pixels

THQ also announced that Biomutant will use the PS5’s DualSense controller “with haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, motion control, and speaker sound.”

  The martial arts style combat system allows you maximum freedom of movement and agility while mixing shooting, melee and the powers of your mutations. Learning new forms of Wung-Fu combat through progression and learning from the masters you meet will constantly add to your choices and ensure the combat never gets old.
• EVOLVE YOUR GAME-PLAY
  You will be able to recode your genetic structure to change your appearance and the way you play. This will of course affect your attributes and on top of that, exposure to bio-contamination in the world will lead to mutations like turtle form and slime bubble, while exposure to radioactivity found in bunkers from the old world will affect your mind and unlock psi-mutations like telekinesis, levitation and more.
• NEXT LEVEL OF CRAFTSMANSHIP
  You are completely free when crafting weapons. Mix and match the pieces to create your own unique 1H or 2H slashing and crushing weapons. Revolvers, rifles and shotguns and add modifications such as corkscrews and battery-powered chainsaw mods to bio-contaminated slime flasks to add to your combat arsenal. There are even characters you’ll meet who will craft cool stuff for you, like bionic wings, a jump-pack, and even allow you to modify your automaton – the junkyard companion!
• GEAR UP FOR ADVENTURE
  You are totally free to equip your character. Not only when it comes to choosing the weapons you create, but also the type of equipment you wear. Equip yourself with a gas mask and an oxygen tank to explore the dead zones, heat-resistant clothing to venture into cryonic zones or protective equipment to face bio-contaminated creatures, it’s up to you. Choose.
• SURVIVE IN A VIBRANT OPEN WORLD
  You are free to explore the world and what lies beneath its surface on foot, mecha, jet ski, hot air balloon, or unique mounts. Explore the dying wilderness, tunnels and bunker networks of the underworld, and find your way through the mountains or the archipelago. There are plenty of discoveries to make, mysteries to unravel, creatures to confront, and strange characters to encounter in this vibrant and colorful world.
• AN UNUSUAL STORY WITH AN UNUSUAL END
  Your actions play a major role in the unfolding of a story where End arrives in the New World. A plague ruins the earth and the Tree of Life bleeds death from its roots. The tribes are divided, need someone strong enough to unite them or bring them all down…
